Awaken the senses through colour and craft. Versus Edition presents four distinctive wall tapestries designed by Margrethe Odgaard and individually handwoven from natural wool and silk by traditional artisans in Nepal. Uniting Himalayan craftsmanship with the Danish designers highly attuned eye for colour and textile design, these accent pieces are charged with a unique ability to reflect and absorb the light.
Margrethe Odgaard’s vision for Versus Edition is inspired by her research into the nuances of culture’s expression through colour as observed on architectural surfaces around the world. The eight hues chosen by the artist were inspired by the landscapes and cityscapes in Kathmandu, where the tapestries are handwoven. The challenge the artist set up for herself was to remove all elements that would distract from the rich colours, natural materials and the intricacies of the specific Tibetan Knot weaving craft.
Odgaard curated each colour pair for its distinct emotional resonance, and harnessed the characteristics of natural wool and silk to absorb and reflect the light on the tapestry’s surface — an effect that shifts and evolves throughout the day.

Versus Tapestries. Awaken the senses through colour and craft.
Each VERSUS tapestry is woven individually by hand from pure Himalayan wool and silk using the Tibetan knot technique. The wool comes from sheep accustomed to the high altitude and harsh climates, which is characterised by its long fibres and naturally oily texture, gives a visible lustre that increases over time.
